1. (U) The Convention for the Protection and Promotion of
Diversity of Cultural Expressions was submitted to the Greek
Parliament on January 26, 2006. At this time it is not
foreseen that the bill will be scheduled for debate in
Parliament before the end of February. Ratification could
occur any time after that.
2. (U) There has been no media coverage or public interest
in the Convention. Likewise, there has been no debate in
Parliament or the GoG regarding the Convention, so it is
unclear whether it faces any difficulty in ratification or
not.
