On 6/7, the Ambassador delivered to FM Leila Rachid a
diplomatic note seeking GOP support for Ruth Wedgewood as the
U.S. candidate to the Human Rights Committee. In addition,
on 6/15, PolOff delivered a copy of the diplomatic note with
Wedgewood's CV to Luis Benitez Rodriguez, the MFA's United
Nations Desk Officer, and Francisco Barreiro, the MFA's
Director of Human Rights. To date the GOP has not taken a
position on whether to support the U.S. candidate.
