1.(SBU) As proposed ref c, ON November 28 post submitted ref b
demarche to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, requesting a
follow-up meeting between the Charge and Minister of Foreign Affairs
Rashit Meredov for the week of November 27. Throughout the week
Charge has repeated the request to America's Desk Chief
Serdar Bashimov, As of COB local time on December 1, Meredov
has not agreed to a meeting nor has post received any written
response to ref b demarche. Charge expects to see Meredov at
a Romanian National Day reception the evening of December 1
and will inquire about the status of the demarche.
2.(SBU) Should Meredov refuse to meet with Charge on this issue,
embassy would like to be advised on any upcoming USG
high-level visit requests, so that she can tell Meredov the
demarche will be raised with the president.
