1. (C) EBO Astana principal officer delivered Ref A demarche
on January 26 to Valikhan Konurbayev, Head of the MFA
Consular Department. The demarche concerned the upcoming ARB
review of GTMO detainee Abdulrahim Kerimbakiev. Konurbayev
noted that when Kerimbakiev first came up for ARB review
(Refs B and C),the GOK determined that he had no relatives
remaining in Kazakhstan. Konurbayev indicated that it was
unlikely that the situation had changed.


2. (C) Post does not anticipate that the MFA will provide any
further information about Kerimbakiev.
