1. (U) In response to Ref A logistical information,
Zhanbulat Ussenov of the MFA's North America/Europe division
reported on July 19 that Kazakhstani ambassador to Hungary
Rashid Ibrayev would attend the July 20-21 PRT Effectiveness
Conference in Budapest. Ussenov promised to forward the
logistical information to the Kazakhstani Embassy in
Budapest and ensure that Ambassador Ibrayev had registered
with the conference organizers.
2. (SBU) Post understands that the GOK is still examining
the question of whether to participate in a PRT. They are
considering whether a civilian or military contribution
would be more appropriate, and have informally expressed a
preference for an area with cultural and/or linguistic
similarities to Kazakhstan.
