1. (U) The Adana Chapter of Turkey's Human Rights Association
lead a protest at the US Consuate in Adana on Friday, January
20, 2006 at 12:15 pm. There were aproximately 40 attendees and
the protest lasted twenty minutes. A representative made a
statement protesting the conditions of the prisoners in
Guantanamo Bay who are currently on a hunger strike. While it
was not presented in their press announcement, signs displayed
in the protest also criticized US policy vis-a-vie Iran. There
were no arrests or injuries and the Turkish Jandarma deployed in
more than sufficient numbers to contain the protesters. The
Consulate's SD Team also monitored the demonstration.
