1. (C) PolChief delivered reftel points, under cover of a
diplomatic note, to MFA Director for International
Organizations Yacub Al-Hosani on November 7. Al-Hosani,
MFA's expert on nonproliferation and arms control, carefully
reviewed the obligations related to UNSCR 1718 and said he
believed the UAEG was in full compliance. Nonetheless, he
promised to review the document more thoroughly to ensure
that no gaps remain within the UAEG. Al-Hosani added that
upon passage of UNSCR 1718, the UAEG had circulated
instructions to all relevant government departments to ensure
full implementation. Post will report any information
developed in subsequent meetings.
