1. (C) Ambassador spoke with MFA number two, Ambassador
Abdul Rahman Al-Jarman, on July 26 about the UAE's
previously-stated commitment of $20 million in humanitarian
aid to Lebanon. Al-Jarman confirmed that the pledge would be
disbursed through the UN and said formalities for the payment
were in process between the Presidency and the Cabinet. He
inquired whether the contribution would be acknowledged at
the Rome conference.
2. (SBU) Ambassador also provided information on the U.S.
commitment of $30 million in humanitarian aid and the
dispatch of a USAID Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART)
to Lebanon.
