1. (S) Ambassador passed ref A's Mayrow General Order
non-paper to Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed (ABZ)
and International Affairs Director/Office of the Crown Prince
Yousef al Otaiba on June 4. ABZ noted that the legal issues
surrounding Mayrow were complex. He encouraged USG
re-examination of the information to determine whether there
were additional details USG could provide the UAEG adding
that he understoond the reasons behind the USG decision to
proceed with the General Order. For his part, al Otaiba
asked that we share when and if US media or Hill inquiries
related to the General Order surfaced.
2. (S) In addition, Ambassador passed text of published
Federal Register General Order to al Otaiba on June 6.
