1. (SBU) Post conveyed reftel points to the GoA's COTRA
delegation in Brussels and followed up June 8 with Gabriela
Habermayer, Austria's 133 Committee representative.
Habermayer agreed that U.S.-EU cooperation on IPR, especially
in the developing world, was an area of positive
collaboration that transcended any single dispute, i.e., the
"Irish music" case. Habermayer said the GoA supported
reference to IPR issues at the summit, either in a separate
declaration or as part of the initiative paper. On energy
efficiency and the economic initiative, Habermayer said the
GoA was open to USG ideas, but would support a Member State
consensus. Habermayer agreed the Summit should accentuate
the positive aspects of U.S.-EU economic relations. In this
context, Habermayer stated the GoA does not support
referencing trade disputes in summit documents.
