1. (U) Press reported Monday, December 19, that the Ministry
of Construction and Housing (MOCH) issued a tender for 117
units on two sites in the East Beit quarter of Ariel
settlement. According to the tender, which was published in
Ha'aretz, one site is 2,465 square meters and will have 27
housing units, and the other will be 7,544 square meters with
90 housings units. (Comment: Post thinks these sites may be
for apartment complexes. End comment). The smaller site
will cost a minimum of NIS 163,8000, approximately $36,000,
and the larger site will cost a minimum of NIS 200,600,
approximately $45,000. The expenditure for development will
be NIS 912,564, approximately $200,000, and NIS 2,792,601,
approximately $620,000, respectively. Both plots of land can
be leased for 98 years, with an option to extend for an
additional 98 years. Buyers must bid by February 5, 2006.


2. (U) There was a separate tender in Ha'aretz on December
19 for 20 housing units on ten plots in Qarnei Shomrom. Each
plot will be approximately 5,450 square meters, and will have
a minimum cost of NIS 57,532, approximately $13,000. The
expenditure for development for these plots will be NIS
1,562,468, approximately $350,000. The leases are for 98
years, with an option to extend for an additional 98 years,
and buyers must bid by February 5, 2006.
