1. (C) Israeli MFA Director General Ron Prosor, Deputy
Director General for Strategic Affairs Jeremy Issacharoff,
and Director for Arms Control Alon Bar will travel to China
for meetings with Chinese officials on April 4-5. According
to Bar, the purpose of the trip is to discuss
counterterrorism and nonproliferation issues. Bar's
assistant told poloff that the agenda includes Iran, North
Korea, export controls, UNSCR 1540, and the Conference on
Disarmament. Bar (please protect) said that the delegation
does not intend to address the issue of Israeli defense
exports to China. He added that if the Chinese ask about the
topic, the MFA delegation will explain that the MOD has the
lead.

2. (C) Bar noted that the GOI would be receptive to any
points the USG would like Israel to include in its
presentation to the Chinese, but the MFA would need input by
COB (Israeli time) March 31.
