1. Following ref inquiry from Exim concerning the uses for
the 4 Swiftship patrol boats proposed for Eximbank financing,
Embassy Santo Domingo has reviewed relevant information,
including the text of the letter provided by Secretary of
Armed Forces Sigfrido Pared Perez. The Embassy has no
knowledge of past, present or future plans of the Dominican
Navy for drug interdiction operations. Embassy recommends
against this transaction.
