1. In response to Ref A demarche, delivered September 12
(Ref B),Embassy received September 30 a diplomatic note from
the Foreign Ministry with the following text (informal
translation from Spanish):

"(Complimentary opening),in view of the traditional ties of
cooperation between both our countries, the Dominican
Republic has decided to cosponsor the draft resolution
"International Partnership on Avian and Pandemic Influenza:
Statenent of Core Principles," which will be introduced in
the framework of the 60th General Assembly of the United
Nations on September 30, 2005." (Complimentary close)"


2. Despite repeated calls, Embassy was unable to ascertain
whether the Dominican Republic desires to attend the senior
officials meeting October 6-7 in Washington.


3. If it is still possible to issue an invitation to the
senior officials meeting, please advise immediately. POC:
