1. (SBU) EconOff met yesterday with German King, Director,
and Graciela Fernandez, Deputy Director, of the APEC
Department of the Directorate of International Economic
Relations (DIRECON) to discuss the GOC position on the APEC
Radioactive Sources Initiative. King reiterated Chile's
support for the Code of Conduct. He then indicated he would
consult with Ambassador Winter of the MFA's Special Policy
Directorate on Chile's possible support for the Export/Import
Guidance. Winter handles counter-terrorism, corruption and
disarmament.

current support for the Additional Protocol for nuclear
safeguards with the International Atomic Energy Agency

concluded Additional Protocols with the IAEA. King indicated
that his team would bring up the issue with those countries
at future meetings.
