1. (S/NF) Embassy EAC was convened on 8/21/2005. EAC was
chaired by the Ambassador and members in attendance were,
DCM, POLE, POLM, RSO, CONS, PD, MGT, DAO, OMC, LEGATT, USAID,
and CCE.

2. (S/NF) EAC discussed the security situation with regard
to ongoing information received concerning the sentencing of
Sheik Al-Moyaed in the United States. Local open source
information received indicates local tribal displeasure with
the conviction. Local tribal leaders have informed President
Saleh they would like him to intervene with the USG on
Al-Moyaed's behalf. Local tribal leaders also expressed
privately that if President Saleh was unable to intercede on
Al-Moyaed's behalf, kidnapping a US citizen would be a way to
put pressure on the USG.

3. (S/NF) EAC agreed that the threat was to be taken
seriously in light of recent kidnappings of UNHCR workers and
a Spanish citizen. EAC agreed however, that no special
precautions or measures were warranted considering the vague
nature of the information. Additionally, the EAC agreed that
a warden message recommending caution to the broader American
community was in order.

4. (S/NF) Embassy Sana'a continues to remain vigilant and
employ sound security practices with regard to physical and
personal security.
