1. (C) FTA-related patent/trademark legislation was approved by
the lower chamber plenary on Dec. 13, completing lower house
deliberations of this bill. The legislation passed
immediately to the upper house, where it is scheduled to be
seen in a special after-hours session of the committee on
Economic and Agricultural Affairs on the evening of Dec. 13.
The bill is then scheduled for a vote in the upper house
plenary on Dec. 14, which would complete all parliamentary
passage of patent/trademark legislation.



2. (C) The FTA copyright bill was approved by the lower house
committee on Foreign Affairs and National Defense on Dec. 13
with no votes against and few abstentions. It is scheduled
for vote in the lower house plenary on Dec. 14 at 1800 local,
completing parliamentary consideration.
