1. Local press has carried AP reports of alleged
desecration of human remains in Afghanistan. There has to
date been no comment, but in Suriname pundits and
editorialists are often slow to pick up story.
2. Ambassador used points in reftel in letters to leaders
of two largest Muslim organizations. She also provided them
with information on U.S. efforts to assist the victims of
Pakistan's earthquake.
