Econoff phoned Director General of Civil Aviation and
Meteorology Sultan bin Yarub al-Saifi April 13 to determine
Oman's reaction to TSA's recent lighter ban. Al-Saifi
confirmed that the Omani CAA has passed along all information
relating to the lighter ban to carriers operating in Oman, as
well as to the Oman Airport Management Company. Although
lighters are not banned on flights in Oman, al-Saifi believed
it was important for all operators to know about a rule
change that could affect travel plans, particularly as
passengers transit Europe en route to the U.S.
