1. On May 24 poloff delivered reftel demarche to Ilidio
Caifaz, Director of National Studies, Ministry of Labor.
Caifaz stated that the GRM would consider support for further
reductions if it could be assured that cuts would not
negatively impact assistance programs. Caifaz stated he
would share the talking points with the Minister of Labor in
their meeting later this week, and indicated the GRM's final
disposition on support budget restraint would be based on
further study of the proposed reductions.
2. Caifaz will be a member of the Mozambican delegation to
the International Labor Conference in Geneva, which starts on
May 31. Minister of Labor Helena Taipo will lead the
delegation.
