1. The Government of Slovakia has offered to provide
supplies to assist the victims of Hurricane Katrina. The
list of available items includes the following:
500 sleeping bags with thermal and hygienic shells
300 sleeping bags
2000 wool blankets
500 wool blankets - sanitary
500 field beds
65 car first aid kits (box)
50 packs of Sava Grok water disinfectant (50/pack)
100 packs of Mani Soft liquid soap (6/pack)
100 packs of Skin Man Soft hand disinfectant (500ml x
24/pack)
The GOS is unable to transport goods to the affected areas.
They can transport the items to any location in Central
Europe, but will require the USG or others to transport the
supplies to their final destination in the U.S.
2. Embassy POC is Brian McCollum, Operations Coordinator in
the Defense Attache's Office. He can be reached during
working hours at 421-2-5922-3313 or on his mobile phone at
421-903-216-090. The GOS POC is Mr. Komzik, Director of the
Operation Center in the Civil Protection Bureau at the
Ministry of Interior, at 421-2-4859-3307. Alternate POC is
Milan Vojtko at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who can be
reached at 421-2-5978-3774.
