On August 1, POLOFF delivered reftel points on UN reform to
Julio Peralta, Director of International Organizations within
the Foreign Ministry. Peralta commented that Paraguay was in
agreement with U.S. points that a reform of the UN at large,
vice just a reform of the Security Council was needed. He
stated that Paraguay supports reform that includes all member
countries. He also noted that Paraguay had been contacted by
the United Group for Consensus regarding UN reform and has
aligned itself with that group. Post will remain in contact
with Peralta's office and will report any further comments
septel.
