1. (C) Poloff met October 25 with Ambassador Mohammed Siraj,
Chief of the Foreign Ministry's Asian Affairs Department, to
discuss reftel appeal for contributions to the international
effort to provide earthquake relief and rehabilitation to
Pakistan. Siraj said that he would inform the Jordanian
representatives at the Geneva donors conference of our
request for additional relief pledges, and that he would
provide a list of GOJ aid donated to the Pakistani relief
effort.

2. (C) Siraj commented that two days after the quake,
Jordanian aircraft left for Pakistan carrying tents,
blankets, and medical supplies. Siraj also pointed out that
the Hashemite Charitable Society, the Royal Jordanian
Charitable Society, and the Jordanian chapter of the Young
Women's Muslim Association are also providing assistance to
Pakistani quake victims.
