1. Post June 23 delivered Ref (A) demarche to the Government
of Jordan Ministry of Agriculture seeking support for USG
candidate Dr. Hulebak for the Vice-Chairperson position of
Codex Alimentarius. Post followed up again on June 30 (Ref
B) with the Ministry and with the Jordan Institute of
Standards and Metrology (JISM). We understand that the
candidacy is being given due consideration.


2. Jordan's delegation to the 28th session of the Codex
Commission includes two members of JISM: Director General
Dr. Yaseen Khayyat and Director for Standards Preparation
(and National Codex Committee chairman) Dr. Mahmoud Zu'bi.
