(C) Acting PolCouns provided additional identification
information for Jordanian detainee Khalid Mahmoud Abdul
Wahab (ISN US9JO-000589DP) on June 13 to Walid Obeidat in the
Foreign Minister's private office. On June 16, A/PolCouns
met with Obeidat to again press for an immediate response to
U.S. questions and requests for assurances related to the
detainee's release. Obeidat replied that resolution of this
matter rested with the Ministry of Interior, and that FM
Qasrawi had twice called the Interior Minister to stress the
need for a prompt answer. Obeidat promised to contact post
as soon as he had any further news to share. Charge will
raise again with the Foreign Minister at the earliest
opportunity.
