She also has very outspoken views on women's issues and especially the position of Muslim women in migrant communities. Being a former Muslim herself, she has strong views on what she views as anachronistic Islamic traditions that prevent Muslims from integrating and may fuel extremism. In all of these areas, Hirsi Ali could learn a lot from the U.S. experience. Moreover, she has increasingly been tasked with foreign policy questions, where her knowledge is limited. As she is likely to remain a lead player in the Dutch public debate on issues that are significant to the U.S., it is important that she gains a better understanding of U.S. views on such issues as terrorism, attitude towards international organizations, relations with the EU, discrimination and anti-Semitism, as well as integration questions, particularly the integration of migrant women into U.S. society.
