1. (C) On April 22, the DCM spoke with Sri Lankan
Foreign Secretary Siri Palihakkara and urged Sri Lanka
to vote in favor of the procedural motion to adjourn the
Cuban resolution on Guantanamo detainees. The DCM noted
that EU states, India, and Nepal among others were in
favor of the motion. Palihakkara responded that Sri
Lanka would support the U.S. on the resolution.


2. (C) The Sri Lankan MFA Director General for
Multilateral Affairs R. Uyangoda called polchief later
and confirmed that the Sri Lankan mission in Geneva had
been instructed to vote in favor of the procedural
motion.
