PRES/15

His Excellency,
Mr. George W. Bush,
President of the United States of America,
Washington D.C.
U.S.A.

Dear President

I write to acknowledge receipt of your letter of August 6,
2004 congratulating me and my Economic Advisers on the
progress being made to implement economic sector reforms in
Nigeria, including the recent decision to foster a
partnership with the G8 countries which is specifically aimed
at combating corruption and enhancing transparency in
governance.

I also warmly appreciate the pledge to avail us of the
cooperation of your economic officials in formulating a
Technical Action Plan that would assist the country in future
negotiations with the G8 on critical matters essential to
Nigeria's economic development.

On my part, I wish to assure you of my unflinching commitment
to ongoing efforts to steer the affairs of the country on the
path of sustainable growth and development, in collaboration
with the United States and other development partners. I am
certain that, with your support, Nigeria will overcome its
present economic challenges and achieve the desired objective
of a brighter and more prosperous country that is our mutual
wish and desire.

Please accept, Excellency, the assurances of my highest
esteem.

Yours sincerely
