SUBJECT: DEMARCHE DELIVERED: CONDEMNING HOSTAGE TAKING AND
MURDERS
REF: A) STATE 166182 B) ABU DHABI 2006
Post delivered ref. A points to Mohammed Al Falaihi of the
MFA European, American and Oceanic Affairs Department.
Post also thanked the UAEG for consistently being the first
GCC country to speak out against terrorist acts immediately
after they occur, as it did in the murder cases of the Paul
Johnson, Nicholas Berg, and Kim Sun-il (see ref. B) and the
Riyadh suicide car bombings. We also thanked the UAEG for
encouraging other nations to take strong actions against
terrorists, as it did in a June statement praising Saudi
security forces for their actions against terrorist groups.
We anticipate that the UAE will continue to condemn
terrorists and terrorist acts as they occur, both in public
and in multilateral fora.
