(C) Post shared reftel information about the Combatant
Status Review Tribunal with Shaykha Nejla Al Qasimi,
special assistant to MFA Under Secretary Abdullah
Rashid Al Nuaimi, on July 10. Abdullah Rashid is away
on leave, but Al Qasimi said she had forwarded the
information to the concerned departments. Abdullah
Rashid had told Charge July 6 that the UAE was
considering hiring lawyers for the two Emirati
citizens detained at Guantanamo Bay in light of the
recent Supreme Court ruling. He also had asked us for
information about the modalities of getting the UAE
access to the detainees, and to furnish him the names
of the two detainees. Charge told him that we would
try to get a point of contact and some procedural
information.
