1. (U) CLASSIFIED BY AMBASSADOR MARCELLE M. WAHBA
FOR REASONS 1.5 (B, D).

2. (U) This is an action message. Please see
paragraph four.

3. (S) MFA Minstate Shaykh Hamdan bin Zayid (HBZ)
contacted the Ambassador 6/13 to say that the UAEG had
received a request from former Iraqi Information
Minister Al-Sahhaf to travel to the UAE. Shaykh
Hamdan said that before responding to Al-Sahhaf, the
UAEG wanted to know if there were any USG
sensitivities regarding Al-Sahhaf's traveling here.
HBZ did not state what the purpose of Al-Sahhaf's
travel was or the intended duration of his stay in the
UAE. We note that former Iraqi Ambassador to the UN
Muhammad Al-Douri now works for Dubai-based, pan-Arab
satellite channel Al-Arabiyya.

4. (U) Action Request: Department please advise how
we may respond to the UAEG inquiry.

5. (U) Baghdad minimize considered.
