1. (U) On September 3, A/Polcouns contacted Ayman Aamiri,
Deputy Director of the MFA's Department of International
Organizations, to again urge Jordan's support for the
candidacy of Professor Ruth Wedgwood in the September 9 UN
Human Rights Committee election. Aamiri had no new
information to convey since ref B, and reiterated that
Jordan's Mission in New York is handling the issue. He noted
also that Samer Naber, the MFA's legal advisor who had been
following the issue in Amman, is in New York this week and
encouraged USUN to contact him directly at the Jordanian
Mission.

2. (U) We note that FonMin Muasher will be in New York
September 10-18 for the opening of the UNGA and other
meetings. During that period, the locus of GOJ
decisionmaking on all UNGA issues will be in New York rather
than Amman.
