1. Embassy Amman has reviewed the three candidates for the
Embassy Science Fellow Program that were forwarded to us by
OES and has chosen Dr. Sylvana Li of the USDA/FAS as our
first choice. Dr. Li's background suits her well to the
job. Not only is her expertise in water quality and
resource management, she is already working with the USGS
and EPA to showcase the latest technologies in wastewater
reuse in agriculture. Dr. Li also plans to use the contacts
she makes this summer in Amman to develop future projects
involving Jordan, Israel, and the Palestinians, advancing
our regional environment agenda.

2. We understand that Dr. Li would be available to work at
Embassy Amman for the month of August. During her
fellowship she will be working with the Ministries of Water
and Agriculture, offering expertise and technical advice on
water quality issues for agricultural applications.

3. Post has identified housing from the embassy housing
pool to accommodate Dr. Li. Dr. Li will be given an office
in which she will have a telephone and computer with email
access.

4. Complying with the provisions of the Embassy Science
Fellow program (ref A),post will offer Dr. Li access to
post medical services, CLO, APO, check cashing, and the
commissary/recreational association, during her official
stay in Amman.

5. Post point of contact for Dr. Li is Regional
Environment Officer Paul Malik, who can be reached by phone
at 962-6-592-0101 ext 2621, or via email at
malikp(at)state.gov

6. Post looks forward to welcoming Dr. Li to Amman later
this summer.
